GENERAL SCOPE & SUMMARY Aspect is looking for an experienced and motivated developer to work on complex, multi system installer programs. The position requires versatility and passion for building and maintaining extremely high quality enterprise-class software. This job involves investigating, architecting and designing new components for inclusion in the Unified IP Contact Center product line. Experience with Windows Installer XML (WiX) toolset and MSI are a must. Experience with other Installation technologies (Install Script, Install Anywhere) are nice to have but not required. The Principal Engineer is a key contributor to the design and development of the Installation and Configuration components of the Unified IP platform. This position is for a hands-on developer. PRIMARY ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES * Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and does ongoing modification of software components. * Using the required programming languages and other technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. * Responsible for the design, development, testing, documentation and analysis of modules or features of new or upgraded software systems and products. * May participate in development in any of a range of product areas such as thin client, rich client, server, installation, communication layers, and so forth. * Come up with solutions/implementations to consistently improve product stability, scalability, and performance. * Develops and/or executes implementation according to project plans and priorities. * Must be able to switch between multiple tasks based on dynamic changing priorities. * Work with members in the organization across various time zones. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS * Specialist in Windows Installer XML (WiX) toolset programming. * Experience with Microsoft Installer (MSI) programming. * Exposure to InstallShield Install Script programming. * Strong communication and documentation skills. * Experience with software debugging tools and techniques. * NICE TO HAVE: Experience with InstallAnywhere * NICE TO HAVE: Experience with Java * NICE TO HAVE: Experience with Linux * NICE TO HAVE: Experience with C# JOB REQUIREMENTS * 6+ years of experience. * Four year degree in technical or engineering field.
