SDO-ST has an immediate opportunity for an Operations Engineer to help drive the long term growth of the Systems Build Process. The right candidate will be able to manage systems through three distinct test environments and production systems, keep system stable on schedule for all quarterly and monthly drops. H/She will maintain test environments, ensure test environment consistency with production as well as help define and implement best practices for system change management.
This position will be dedicated to monitoring and maintaining our Production and Pre-Production environments and provide a platform level support.
Core Job Requirements/responsibilities/knowledge areas:
Primary responsibilities include
 Implementing existing defined tasks in Production and Pre-production environments
 Help in the definition of new methods for improving Production and Pre-production environments maintenance, change management, configuration management, refresh procedures, patch process etc
 Help champion these processes so that they become the de facto standard platform support model to serve as service.
 Ensure Production and Pre-production environment readiness and availability for all key projects
 Ensuring successful continuous operation of complex infrastructure in secure facility by implementing processes and procedures defined by our engineering team
 Ongoing maintenance of servers, SAN’s, Active Directory, PKI, etc.
 Ability to identify the non-standards in the environment and escalate issues to the appropriate team/ service owners.
The qualified applicant will have a strong technical background and experience. The candidate must have the following key technical skills:
 Extensive experience administrating Windows 2003/2008 and Windows 2003/2008: Server build, maintenance, security, keeping up to date with latest internal OS updates (IPAK’s) and security patches, configuring server for best performance etc.
 Infrastructure / Network Administration
 Extensive experience administrating and building web sites in IIS: Experience building web sites based on project build hand offs, troubleshooting site issues, and security administration are all a must. Coding skills are not essential.
 Excellent knowledge of MS SQL Server 2005/2008 administration: Candidate must have proven experience setting up, administering, backing up and restoring SQL server databases, troubleshooting SQL issues, configuring SQL server for optimal performance etc. T-SQL coding not essential but a plus.
 Experience troubleshooting network and connectivity issues.
 Experience implementing 3 tier worldwide distributed applications delivered via a project using all of the above technologies, ensuring all of the individual components are working and the system as a whole functions correctly.
Knowledge Areas
Excellent troubleshooting skills, especially when dealing with ambiguous issues
Excellent understanding of Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 operating system, IIS, NLB, Clustering, AD, WINS/DHCP/DNS and SQL 2000/2005
Contacts:
Interacts and coordinates with other operational areas. Participates in consultation to MSIT Project Teams. Owns client interactions for non extraordinary issues.
Qualifications:
5+ -year college degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent work experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with relational database management systems, web-server and client-server technologies
Demonstrated ability in defining and implementing process improvements with a focus on leading edge technology
Demonstrated ability in handling complex technical issues and providing timely solutions
Demonstrated ability to define and follow best practices
Strong customer service skills
Excellent team-player, willing to share knowledge, experience and to go extra mile for the overall support team benefit
