Job Description:
Essential day-to-day responsibilities
̢ۢ Provide day to day technical support for the Windows Server environments and applications.
̢ۢ Implement and support Windows clustering and applications in the clusters.
̢ۢ Implement and support Windows Active Directory.
̢ۢ Provide technical support for the VmWare virtual infrastructure.
̢ۢ Participate in the VmWare implementation projects as and when requirement arises.
̢ۢ Provide technical expertise to projects implementing system upgrades ensuring Operations best .practices are followed Installing, customising , deployment of Windows and VmWare systems.
̢ۢ Taking full responsibility for stable operation of all systems under management.
̢ۢ Be actively involved in capacity management and system performance monitoring/tuning
̢ۢ Plan and implement Business As Usual upgrades and patching schedules following business critical processes.
̢ۢ Work on system/service performance issues, find root cause and solution
̢ۢ Provide root cause analysis for existing problems affecting Production and Pre-production environments including vendor escalation where necessary
̢ۢ Proactive in finding root cause irrespective of the source (be it UNIX, Windows, Network, applications) by working with peers
̢ۢ Liaison with site operations/remote smart hands, vendors, engineering, development, applications support, end user services/project managers
̢ۢ Perform software and systems provisioning using TR and third party tools to production and pre-production environments
̢ۢ Create/implement/trouble shooting internal tools using required scripting language
̢ۢ Be open to learning appropriate new technology and applying pro-actively.
Additional information:
The team provides 15x7 coverage a day from 6AM - 9PM working in two shifts and weekends on rotation basis.
Education
A Bachelor's Degree - Computer Science, technical or engineering degree preferred (relevant experience will be considered if not graduate)
Required Skills
5-7 years of relevant support experience
̢ۢ Strong understanding and experience in Windows Server Technology
̢ۢ Experience in implementing and supporting Windows Server clusters
̢ۢ Experience in implementing and maintaining Windows AD
̢ۢ HP-C7000 Chassis, Flex, vCEM, SIM, technologies
̢ۢ VmWare 3.5 and 4 (ESX servers, Virtual Center, HA, DRS, FT clusters, VCB, vdSwitch, P2V, V2V, VCB, VM provisioning experience, automation)
̢ۢ TCP/IP networking troubleshooting skills
̢ۢ Storage exposure and experience
̢ۢ Backup experience (TSM/Netbackup desired)
̢ۢ Hardware implementation, configuration, trouble shooting experience - preferrably HP/IBM/DELL chassis systems
̢ۢ Troubleshooting, problem identification and fixing
̢ۢ Fundamental Networking, VLAN and related
̢ۢ System/Service Performance Analysis and Tuning/Optimisation
̢ۢ Methodical and logical fault finding
̢ۢ Experience in software provisioning
̢ۢ Be open to learning appropriate new technology and applying pro-actively
̢ۢ Willingness and open to work on issues and find the root cause
Desired Skills
̢ۢ ITIL (ITILv2/3 Foundation)̢ۢ Degree relating to IT.
̢ۢ working knowledge of ITIL Service Management processes such as Incident, Change, Release and Problem
̢ۢ Solaris/Linux exposure
̢ۢ Knowledge of SAN Storage particularly EMC
̢ۢ Some Linux (RedHat) exposure and experience
̢ۢ Terminal Servers
̢ۢ CIFS, NFS, SDS, IPMP
̢ۢ Knowledge of vFoglight
̢ۢ Knowledge of CiBRA
̢ۢ XML or other mark up languages
Any Certifications Required:
̢ۢ VMware - VCP 3.5 or 4
̢ۢ MCSE/MCTS: Enterprise Administrator/Server Administrator
