PURPOSE:
̢ۢ To create and maintain Universe, Reports in Business Objects.
̢ۢ To co-ordinate closely with the functional and business users of GES Applications to understand Business Intelligence and Reporting requirements.
̢ۢ To get technically involved in the Design and Development of Database objects such as Tables, Views, Index, Stored Procedures, Packages, Functions, Triggers and Integrity Constraints.
JOB TITLE: SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER TEAM: GES
REPORTS TO: (desg.) PM NO. OF REPORTEES: 0-1
EXPERIENCE: 3 â€" 7 yrs QUALIFICATION: B.E or equivalent
MANDATORY SKILLS
1 Universe Designing, Contexts, Derived Tables, Integrity check and other objects of the tool.
2 Knowledge of BusinessObjects XIR2 & R3 â€" Desktop and Web Intelligence (InfoView and Rich Client) Report Designing.
3 Create Stored Procedures with complex SQL Joins and use of cursors
4 Define data relationships, mappings and definitions.
5 Understand the usage, nuances and architecture of the reporting tool being used with application.
6 Performance Tuning of Universe, Reports & Database (Queries, Indexing, Stored Procedures).
7 Good communication (written & verbal English) skills.
8 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9 Business knowledge of Capital Markets â€" Terminologies, Instruments, Deal Processes and Transactions.
10 Data Model knowledge â€" an understanding of the structure of the data, what’s contained in the DataWarehouse, data sources and data quality issues.
11 Experience in working in Onsite-Offshore environment.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / CRITICAL TASKS:
1. BUSINESS & SYSTEM ANALYSIS
Interact with business, functional and technical representatives of project teams in various territories in order to analyze reporting and auditing requirements.
Provide explanation to report users on business rules and data definition.
2. CONCEPTUALISATION & DESIGNING
Conceptualizing the overall reporting approach and report design. Preparing design documents, building proof of concepts, validating design solution and data modeling.
3. SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT
Preparation of technical specifications, installation and configuration of tools, designing Reports, defining Universes and Contexts, performance tuning, testing, and deployment. Deploy the tool̢۪s administration functions.
Perform/suggest performance monitoring and database tuning.
4. DOCUMENTATION MANAGEMENT
Control and oversee timely preparation, update and upkeep of all documents necessary to be maintained within the solution framework, in order to ensure easy availability of information pertaining to the solutions developed and maintained.
5. TRAINING
Train others (wherever required) in order to ensure knowledge sharing and backup.
6. SUPPORT & MAINTENANCE
Enhance, customize, trouble-shoot, understand & resolve problems related to existing implementation. Production support for the solution in order to minimize system outages. Investigate and/or resolve issues of inconsistent, inaccurate or missing data
Monitor data quality levels using data quality metrics.
Perform periodic data quality audits, identify issues and make corrections as necessary.
7. COMPLIANCE
To ensure all activities carried-out and solutions proposed, planned and delivered are compliant with policy guidelines specified by the organization.
8. TRAVEL
Should be open to travel to onsite if required.
