Documents medium-to-large scale projects and delivers presentations with minimal supervision. Affects change within sphere of influence and leads development of innovative improvements. Ability to work independently with light touch from management. Some weekend and off hour work required. • College degree, diploma with 5 - 7 years of extensive network design or operational experience within a large enterprise environment required • Bachelor degree in a Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent highly desirable and/or preferred highly desirable and/or preferred • CCIE/CCDP Certification or equivalent highly desirable and/or preferred • Experience in managing and leading infrastructure and network projects • Leadership - Drives progress and focuses on execution; makes commitments; delivers results as committed; practices coaching with team members; assures that the team's direction is aligned with the Business Strategy and Roadmap • Ability to perform independent research and study • Experience in the financial industry Technical Skills: • CCNP, CCIE with extensive knowledge of • Enterprise class routers (Cisco ASR, GSR, CRS-1) • Cisco IOS software including exposure to IOS XR • MPLS -roles of P, PE, CE, VRFs, etc. • Routing Protocols BGP and OSPF • Other technologies -NAT, Multicast, Qos, • Basic Optical Technologies: DWDM, PoS, etc. • Significant experience with large scale and complex projects; must possess a high-level of technical expertise, have strong organizational skills and be able to learn and define technical processes and procedures; must be able to plan, provide analysis, design and implement technical solutions Job specific skills: • Advanced Level of Telecommunications Skills • Advanced Level of Networking Skills • Advanced Level of Internetworking theory and practical applications • Basic Level of Network diagnostic methods, tools, and interpreting packet captures • Basic Level of Security and Risk exposure assessments and mitigation • Proficient in analysis of business system requirements in a multi-platform distributed environment • Excellent command of business knowledge • Project management and process coordination • Relationship building - ability to solicit input from internal and external sources • Change leadership • OSI - Model • Metrics and reporting • Presentation Responsibilities: • Leads major enterprise network infrastructure projects • Provides high level and detailed consulting as network subject matter expert for major Core projects to deliver design proposals and helps plan network activities • Develops, communicates, and revises network standards • Performs large scale network planning; plans, designs and implements infrastructure projects, technical processes and procedures as they relate to network engineering • Maintains network support documentation including Global network maps, drawings, and traffic flow diagrams • Acts as mentor for Network Engineering personnel • Plans, schedules, and creates change control records and performs configuration of network elements in a large-scale networking environment in conjunction with change control policies and procedures • Performs Tier 4 support functions for network problems in accordance with problem management process which may involve problems in network as well as other managed devices and services. o Tier 4 support is Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) engagement level o Tier 3 support is Operations Engineer engagement level o Tier 2 support is NOC Engineer engagement level o Tier 1 support is Global Service Desk/Help Desk • Escalates problems to the internal Network Engineering and external vendors as required and provides support to resolve escalated network issues • Performs RCA/PIPP/PASD (Root Cause Analysis) on network problems; identifies chronic problems and take action to identify and resolve the root cause, performs network configuration changes in response to client issues.
