Job Functions of an L3/SME Middleware:
Scope:
The Middleware administrator must be proficient in performing system administration and Subject matter expert. Provide senior level expertise in the architecture, design, and implementation of highly available web services supporting enterprise business applications on a managed Web hosting environment. Experience and proficiency in web hosting design, monitoring and troubleshooting are a must. Candidate will provide project leadership for various initiatives in the middleware services area. This individual performs all internal activities related to Web hosting services, vendor supplied system utilities, and custom processing applications.
This person will participate in a global team that provides daily management of a client's Managed Web Hosting environment through expert level troubleshooting, problem solving and change management. This role requires individuals to combine a customer service approach to restore web hosting services with an innovative solutions approach to reduce or eliminate unplanned service outages. Candidates will apply a broad skill set of web hosting technologies in this role including: IIS, Apache, Unix, Iplanet, Weblogic, .Net and expect to build a core competence in IBM Websphere Suite of Products & Sun Glass Fish Suite of Products set while in this role. Collaboration and effective communication skills are essential to this role as team mates are located globally. This role offers the opportunity develop technical mastery through daily work and participating in, or leading, project efforts.
This role is expected to: handle end-to-end delivery of SLAs for assigned accounts; provide service delivery to the required service levels; install, configure and administer large scale global and regional middleware applications administration; and provide reactive support for customers and introduce measures to reduce reactive work.
Web hosting administration / SME :
̢ۢ Candidate must have a keen interest in learning several different technology sets. Technical mastery in the following skill sets/platforms is required: IBM Websphere, IIS 4/5/6, Apache, Unix, Iplanet, Weblogic, and .Net.
̢ۢ Enterprise Level knowledge of DNS/DDNS, Active Directory, WINS and DHCP.
̢ۢ Awareness of Terminal Service (remote console) and other remote management tools.
̢ۢ Awareness on TCIP/IP ports and their mappings along with the functions.
̢ۢ Working level knowledge of backup and restoration of Metabase and other web hosting products.
̢ۢ Candidate must be solutions oriented and demonstrate effective problem solving skills.
̢ۢ Strong collaboration skills are required. Candidate must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
̢ۢ Candidate demonstrates a high level of initiative and is a self-starter who can flow to the work.
̢ۢ Familiarity with ITIL concepts and process is an advantage
̢ۢ Position requires participation in shift rotations covering Asia business hours. Weekend coverage may also be required.
̢ۢ Must have strong analysis, customer handling and documentation skills
̢ۢ Must be an independent worker
̢ۢ Microsoft Certifications like MCA, MCSE+ Internet are preferred. Microsoft Certification can be compromised provided candidate is having good technical knowledge.
Qualifications / specifications:
Must be a graduate in science or Engineering in Electronics, computer science with minimum experience of 5 years plus. Good knowledge of Unix / Windows is preferred.
